About Rachel

I have tried my hand at various things but mainly I have been involved within the arts.  I have worked in theatre, back stage and on stage and I have worked within the visual arts within different contexts. Locally, nationally and internationally. Of latter years I have worked on local youth projects running art workshops and events.  More recently I have been a Learning Mentor and a Positive Activities Project Leader with young people.  I have not even mentioned my time as a barmaid in my college days!  I have always taken photos throughout, sometimes so I can paint from them or use them for ideas in my projects. I am not a trained or professional photographer.  When I studied for my HND in Art & Design I chose to do photogrpahy as an element of it.  This was back in the day when we still used darkrooms.  Then when I did my degree in Fine Art I continued to use photography as a tool and in some projects in an experimental way.  Today in the world of digital cameras I am still getting to grips with the technical bits.  However, good or bad I love taking photos of anybody and everything!  I do not like to have to define what I am as I am many things and can do many things, but mainly I am now described as a visual artist and facilitator.
